When Doug Woods wrote, "Rallying was very luck today' here: http://www.specialstage.com/forums/showpost.php?p=217052&postcount=14 I would bet there is a little bit more to the story than what you are writing. I've encountered on-coming traffic on hot stages several times. I'm guessing Doug has encountered it many times. For him to write that rallying was lucky makes me wonder about the details. |

"Talk about drugs. Driving a car like that, going that fast, it’s like all the drugs at once." - Tommy Byrne "Now, Pinky, if by any chance you are captured during this mission, remember you are Gunther Heindriksen from Appenzell. You moved to Grindelwald to drive the cog train to Murren. Can you repeat that?" - The Brain |

Was on-coming sweep mentioned in the stage notes? As we all know now stage notes mention every hazard and every spectator, so put the hammer down and fly over that blind crest with no concern about what might be on the other side. Assuming this story is what Doug was referring to, then he is right. Rallying was very lucky. The clock keeps ticking closer and closer to rally midnight in the U.S. |

What about the tire restriction conspiracy. Head ons and traffic on stage is so 2006 conspiracy material.
My personal favorite was that it was Buffum fucking with Tanner and Pinker, who may be out performing the factory team at tire choice at the event. I can't think of any other reason why a tire importer would support, no enforce limiting teams to tire numbers. Another idea was that Buffum supplies the tires to VSC as sponsorship and this helped him save himself a few thousand by not letting Travis and Ken swap tires at every service. Well, after two days of wondering, the issues(s) come to light.
That old addage: he who ignores history... If we don't know, we can't fix it, be it collapsed cages, broken seats, ruptured fuel lines or whatever. Just writing a rule or procedure change with no explanation is a sure way to have it ignored as useless. Add a little anecdote, and everyone KNOWS why to be more careful and will more likely follow that change. John Timaunus always told the story behind the rule and it was usually followed by me hustling to make a change so I wouldn't get burned or have my helmet fly off. Without that story, it was just a useless rule that made me miss some drinking time. The Cone of Silence was a joke in an old sitcom, let's keep it there. |

A Joke!!!??? A JOKE!!???????? On eof the vital links in the chain of Security in the fight against evil a mere joke on a sitcom! Ha! No, no, DOUBLE HA!! There are ears everywhere, some of them belong to the great un-washed who need to learn that there betters are the ones who need to know, we are the ones who should sit obediently and wait for "the truth" to be crafted and presented to us when it's done. They NEED the cone of silence: Maybe all communication from Rally America should begin with "Would you believe.......?" That's how the internet works, ya twit :-) Put out a bunch of idiotic rumors until someone who knows the facts finally gets pissed off enough to tell the real stories. It's the quickest way to get to the facts. |
