Holy jesus that photo is huge.
And anyone with half a brain knows that you'll empty a 30rd assault magazine in about 3 seconds, maybe a TINY bit more. They dont fire forever, and then you reload. BURST, or single fire. They'll fire as fast as you can pull the trigger if you need it... You want the caliber, not the rate of fire. Welcome to the cult of JVL drink the koolaid or be banned. |

Has no one read World War Z around here???
The Standard Infantry Rifle was a 5.56 mm semi auto reliable and accurate weapon with special incendiary rounds. His other book, Zombie Survival Guide, recommends the smaller and maybe less reliable but potentially more accurate M1 carbine. In my mind there are three main considerations. Availability of ammunition and clips and quick clip changes Semi-auto Super reliable Light weight Wonder what the weight difference is in the slightly larger rounds of the M1 over the AK. Gives it a weight and accuracy bonus, but the AK is the undisputed king or reliable. AFAIK... Grant Hughes |

the .30 caliber used in the M1 Carbine is more like a confused pistol round than a rifle road. The 7.62x39mm used in the AK47 has a higher potential energy. 2480 Joules versus 1190 Joules. Moreover, the round is more aerodynamic and therefore more accurate at a greater range. Add in the fact its relieble and common place, whereas the M1 scare and rather old, its an easy choice. Weight isnt that much of a deal either. If some 5' 2" vietcong gorilla and port it around for years in the jungle and in tunnels, pretty sure you would be fine.

I decided to delete what I wrote, because someone might find it inflamatory.
Suffice it to say there are a bunch of nuts running around.

About 15 years ago I went to Wades in belle-vuaw to buy a mini14 ranch rifle. There was .223 and 7.62 options, I asked the guy behind the counter which was the better round, he said .223 hands down and I asked why. His reply was this "because when the shit hits the fan you can cap a national Guardsmen and take his ammo"

i would still avoid shooting .223 out of it though. Not as bad as trying to force the 5.56 (.224) down the .223, but still shortens barrel life.

Grant, I'm not knocking an m1, I'm just saying you don't shoot M4/16s or AK's fully auto if you want to win
Although, I would take an m14 over an m1 or m16. However, an m4 cqb with a master key shotgun slung underbarrel would be an excellent companion weapon, and then a .45 usp compact. Add a hand and half sword to the mix and you're good for a LONG time. ![]() Welcome to the cult of JVL drink the koolaid or be banned. |
