Ich habe eine Frage. Was ist der Sinn des "an" am Ende des ein Satz? Ich weiss was es bedeutet auf allein aber Ich weiss nicht am Satz Ende.
Exempel: "Ford geht jetzt einen Schriff weiter und bietet den kleinen motor auch für größere Fahrzeuge an." Im Englisch "Ford goes now a step further and provides the smaller motor also for larger vehicles (an)" Not sure how the an plays in. |

Basically it's your part of the whole "word positioning reverse" mixed with a bit of "splitting words".
"An" is used for the accusative form of verbs, meaning that you can actually say both "anbieten" and "bieten (etwas) an". Like "Ich will etwas anbieten" (I want to offer something), or in your example where you have the noun in the sentence ("motor", the verb ("anbieten" is split to mark accusative form, and due to the whole reverse word positioning, it is put at the end of the sentence. I just asked my wife about the first example, and it turns out I got it sort of wrong.
The reason for splitting is not accusative as such - it's that it's a loosely coupled noun. But then when you have accusative a lot of times a loosely coupled noun will split. Brgrds Brian |

And we know from simply saying the wort aloud what it means Modern nasalised Amerikanskij: "ON" Modern kartoffel fressende Krautski: "an" I cannot hear a difference---which is why I warn that LOOKING at letters deceives one into seeing more differences that you'll hear. A great example is Dutch spelling. Look at it and you'll go insane. We hall know German "frau".. But what the hell could 'vrouw' be? Same word to the ears it turns out. Look at your earlier "to-do" list with the wrong installieren. Better---angebaut =an (ge) baut 'built on' angriff---on grip--or grip on= attack anworten= on word, or 'answer' (look! we use 'an' pa angleski auch!) Oder weiter; Anleitung------on leading---to lead you on--instructions Anweisung-----on 'wise' ing---weis implys to see---directions wise (adj.) O.E. wis, from P.Gmc. *wisaz (cf. O.S., O.Fris. wis, O.N. viss, Du. wijs, Ger. weise "wise", from pp. adj. *wittos of PIE base *weid- "to see," hence "to know" (see vision). Related to the source of O.E. witan "to know, wit." Look for fun how short a step for a Swedish speaker anleitung= anledning ('member i told you about t to d shift?) anweisung= anvisning John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Some pretty good examples - I was struggling to find some myself. I can find them in Danish, although they are a bit "constructed" since we don't really have loosely coupled nouns in every day language.
You've got "anledning" wrong - eventhough they are very close to each other, they don't mean the same - by far... "anleitung" does mean "instruction" or similar. But the meaning of the Swedish "anledning" (which is the exact same as the Danish "anledning" ) is "reason". More specifically it's more like "an occasion that's a reason". As in "Det giver mig anledning til at...", which is something along the lines of "This occasion is good reason for me to do... this or that". Or "I denne anledning vil jeg gerne..." = "On this occasion I would like to..." Brgrds Brian Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/13/2011 03:49PM by wildert. |

Acutally - I think we're both right from that link. In Swedish it can mean a number of things. But in Danish it's only "occasion".
Hehe - thanks a lot - yes he's cool an all. Still very tired, but everything is going well so far - and his older sister (2½ years) is VERY proud . Brgrds Brian Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/14/2011 03:34AM by wildert. |

That's something we watched carefully, Annouska was on the one hand excited and fascinated, but I could see the occasional cloud on her face like "but. What does this mean for me?" So I made sure I told her that there is an endless supply of love and that we weren't going to run out of love for her just because we had Ninotchka now.. it worked.
