One man was shot to death by Miami police, and another man is fighting for his life after he was attacked and his face allegedly half eaten, by a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway off ramp, police said.

The bloodshed began about 2 p.m. when a series of gunshots were heard on the ramp, which is along NE 13th Street, just south of The Miami Herald building. Witnesses said a woman saw the two men fighting and flagged down a police officer who was in the area.

The officer, who has not been identified, approached and saw that the naked man was actually chewing the other man’s head, according to witnesses. The officer ordered the naked man to back away, and when he continued the assault, the officer shot him. The attacker continued to eat the man, despite being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.

In a text message, Javier Ortiz, spokesman for Miami police’s Fraternal Order of Police, said the officer who fired the fatal shots was “a hero.”

“Based on the information provided, our Miami police officer is a hero and saved a life,’’ he said.

Sergeant Altarr Williams, supervisor of Miami police’s Homicide Unit, said a man doesn’t have to be armed to be dangerous.

“There are other ways to injure people,’’ Williams said. “Some people know martial arts, others are very strong and can kill you with their hands.’

Yeah, your poll is flawed. You need an M249 SAW or RPK (keeping with your red weapons ) And some shot guns. The 7.62mm is good, though. I don't think hydraulic shock would affect a zombie...

Oh my god, you guys are useless. The worst feature you could have on your Zombie Defense Rifle is a selector that goes to full auto. The guy (or girl) who is rocking and rolling away in a blaze of glory is always the first one to get snuck up on from behind and bit on the neck. Zombies are SLOW. If a bunch of them have gotting in close you fucked up and are doomed. If just a few somehow get close, you should switch over to the chainsaw. Really, the key to zombie defense is McGuyvering together a perimiter of downed powelines or flaming diesel ditches. I digress. Shooting zombies is all about a good strategic possition, carefull marksmanship (nothing but head shots) lots of ammo and a riffle that never ever jams. Surviving the zombie onslaught on the other hand is all about conserving ammo.

Machete and a loin cloth. Im good.

The fucked up thing is that the attack went on for 18 minutes with people driving by, riding by on bikes, and generally not doing anything. Fucking Florida. I remember back in 98 or so a bicyclist riding on the shoulder got hit by a car. A few days later someone noticed the bike and stopped to pick it up, probably for scrap metal. They then called police when they noticed the big blood stain on the highway and scraps of clothing. There was almost nothing left of the carcass and they found a few teeth to work with for identification. The body had been hit be so many cars it was pulverized...
