A double-barrelled shotgun? Riiiiight. Fire that thing for the first time without understanding the kick...

Blast two rounds into the air? Now you have a club until it's reloaded. Simple can be good, but with a double-barrel in a defensive situation, I'd want a pistol or revolver at the same time so each weapon can back up the other.

Bad advice is worse than no advice, Biden really needs to STFU on home defense issues he knows less about than me. And I really don't know anything.

For somebody who doesn't use firearms a lot a 20-gauge pump or autoloader is going to be a better choice if you go shotgun. Less kick and more than two rounds between reloads. Your typical meth-ed out home invader is probably going to have something like a Hi-Point CR .380 with an 8 or 10 round magazine. grinning smiley

I notice more and more police cruisers have AR15-type weapons mounted vertical in the center console where the old Ithaca pump used to be. The police must have reasons for that.

If you choose to have firearms in the house, you need to know how to use them, practice using them frequently, and have them stored securely. Without practice, how useful are you REALLY going to be when Willie Horton comes through the door?

Andrew, the cops have AR15s for the same reason they wear combat boots and shave their heads and abuse steroids worse than any other occupational group--and want to have full auto, and armoured cars, and camo playsuits in urban settings:

They want to play Army..
You're the enemy..

Hollywood is the reason and it is a very just reason. That was an ungodly brutal and yet amazingly lucky event.

I'm betting Biden is the kind of guy who looks down the barrel to see if the gun is loaded. He also failed to mention if the housewife pulls both triggers at the same time the noise is even louder....what a maroon...

Yep happens so frequently everywhere they don't even show it on the news anymore..good reason for every cop in the country to be armed like combat infantryman...

That probably explains the skin head look, the steroid abuse and the camo outfits, too.

Must be just your ghetto neighborhood, they dress and look pretty normal in the southern part of the state.

Joe Biden is a moron
February 27, 2013 08:59AM
Joe Biden's stupid suggestion mixed with some funny videos of inexperienced shotgun shooters.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jafkVM-jnbE

Biden's hair plugs must have grown down into his brain. His suggestion to his wife to go out on their deck and blast off a couple of rounds is unbelievably stupid (nevermind possibly illegal where he lives and absolutely illegal where many people live).

"Gee officer. I heard a noise, so I ran outside and blasted off a couple of rounds like Vice President Biden told us to. What do you mean I am under arrest for illegally discharging a firearm?"

And Biden is a heartbeat away from being the President?

John has no grasp on the realities of today's world. Haven't we figured that out by now?

Cop's ARs are...

Further accurate range then shot guns (matters, actually)

Semi auto not full auto, lol ( An AR by definition is SEMI automatic, not automatic. An M-16 isnt even full auto, it's 3 round burst... )

Used because they work better than shotguns. Same reason they carry semi auto pistols vs revolvers. Why carry pistols if they want to be like the military? Almost no one gets issued pistols in the military... SF, MP, Officers, Pilots, and Tankers, I believe.

More manageable for the average officer.

Hold more ammunition.

Pretty much outweighs a shot gun in most cases.

Not always AR's. Seldomly actually. They are far more likely to be Subguns or M-16 derivatives. Departments used to make money by selling older class III weaponry to the dealers out there. Less than a year ago my pharmacist picked up two tommy guns from a NJ police dept sale through his dealer. When the army went to trey round burst, a number of firearms and lowers went for sale directly to the nations PD's. Pretty good prices too. But subguns are preferred fare. Especially since you can sell off anything now that can be tied to drugs. Brand new turn your Heckler & Koch for all!

Except that they are. To limit confusion I suppose we could just call them Stoner derivative rifles for the poorer departments that cant afford the good stuff.

Every medic in the army is issued that shitty 9mm Beretta. And even though they have to carry the medical stuff they all would rather be holding the m4. (Personally I would rather have a FAL, but that's just petty details.) Quite a few medics out there.

That's still not the majority, thats one more small group.

Anyway, whether or not they are full auto, the reason is hardly "they want to be the military." A lot of cops ARE ex military.. so they've already BEEN military, lol.

Two different issues:

The militarization of police forces and what weapons are appropriate for what situations.

Hey fucktard punk, I said AR15 you moron, I know what AR15s are imbecile. I owned enough semi-auto weapons that I'd already grown out of the fascination with those kind of toys before I was 15.. Fired 10s of thousands of rounds, fire so many they'd cook off by themselves. Fired semi-auto, bolt action, Browning .30 cal aircooled---full auto ya know....different times then..

Idiot, try and get a grip on this :

there is nothing of value that you will ever be able to tell me.
If you know it then it is a commonplace, and any withdrawn nobody punk hiding at home already knows it.

And everybody else does too.
So don't think for a second that you "have a grip" on anything but your limp dick.thumbs down

John, mellow out on this one.

99.45% of "liberal anti-gunners" aren't far off this image in their knowledge of firearms.

You are an exception to that rule. And even though Timmay often deserves getting told to STFU, you need to go smoke a big spliff and chill. You can do that now in Washington, you know.

Oh, and Timmay? STFU. Just because. grinning smiley

Maybe we should move back to the OMG OBAMA'S GONNA TAKE ALL YER GUNS!!!! thread. Although Biden IS a moron with the double-barrel comments.

If you know what they are than you wouldn't say they have them because it makes them feel like soldiers... lol

Are you really this stupid? (rhetorical - in case you can't figure it out... )
