Also has Webb cams which were the same as the Cobb "spicy" cam.

I never got to race the car with this engine, only drove it once to autozone. We had the cams in the car when I drove it but chris who originally owned it used phase 2 pistons in with the phase 1 rods so the compression ratio was closer to 8.8-9:1 which we didn't figure out till the season was over.

I do know there was something interesting about the engine to where it had a dead spot at 3500 and Harvey added more timing in that area than he was normally comfortable adding but it smoothed power out and it never saw knock

and my production car weighs 2470... so 2400ish is not a pipe dream... hell.. from the sounds of it 2200 is a maybe with a decent amount of weight reduction.. one can dream right? lol

Keep dreaming, you won't get it that light. I've built a really light GC8, I think it came in somewhere around 2700, I don't remember. You're not going to get 2400, in any case.

My open GC weighed 2480 when I checked it before Christmas. That was with everything but a spare tire. Same scale the old car that Pritchard has now was 2638.

Did he really put a six speed in that thing? As for tired old, it made 150hp on the same dyno that stock 02 wrxs make about 135ish

Don't ya just hate April Fools??

I am missing something here....

Yeah John, that was the first engine we ever "built." Would I do it again? Probably not. But hey it wasn't my money being thrown at it I just pushed the pedals.

So are you using an 06 engine harness? or an entire body harness?

the entire 06 body harness, computer, dash cluster, throtle by wire, 07 AVLS 2.5i heads
all the light plugs were merged to run the 95 body lights.

I be sorry as a muthafucka I did, still sorry I did n' hustled ta peep what tha fuck I holla'd a lil' bit better, or at least try to.

Pokin fun at the stock WRX number and the implied more power out of a NA2.5, if I read it correctly.

Hey It's what the guy who owns/runs the dyno told me, so I took him at his word. I guess if you have a bone to pick, bring it up with him. I guess the other part of that was chris (previous owner of the car) wanted to run race gas so that may have been part of it as well. And yes I know John stupid to pay $7/gal for 100+ octane to run on near stock engine. I just pushed the pedals...

No bones to pick. A very wussy tired WRX should pass 170hp and a good stocker will nail 185-195 most anyday.

Elevation is the other key. That dyno sits at 5000+ ft. Stock 04-05 STIs (when new) only see 220 on that dyno.

should be near 180-200 WHP at sea level then..

got a few hours work in on the car today, we are on the last 10% of the car... all the small tedious stuff... got the switch panel in the dash, covered alot of factory floor and body holes with metal HVAC tape to keep dust out.. i try to put it on from the inside and outside, so it sticks together in the hole.. hand brake lever is adjusted, its a good 4 inches forward of where it sat in the pic john commented on, no confusing which is which. i forgot to snap pics today...

more updates later this week.

Nope.

I ran against Pritchard last year (with Jon Kramer) at STPR and the car was definitely on race gas then.

It's a car built to win overall regionals, no expenses spared.

I think drag guys have stickers that look like lenses...that'll do for the look..
But since the TV guys don't like night stages, we don't do night much anymore, so the stickers-fu should be enough..
