Gene, you know what's fucked up? He IS a NASA scrutineer! At least according to the EGR website. And a certified welder. Its can at least be explained when someone is ignorant to the rules or whatever makes a mistake--but if you're supposed to be an expert? No excuse, totally unacceptable.

I know that the road race cages out there aren't usually nearly as good as the rally ones, but still.

Check out the gaps on vertical bars on the NASCAR door bar on the green E36 that is on their home page. If you can't get a nice tight fit on a perpendicular junction like that, I'd hate to see what it more acute angles and complex joints would look like. Well from the pictures further up, you'll see what happens. Its almost like they don't have the right size tubing notcher or something.

It looks to me like most of the project photos that are on the site are autopower weld-in kits. Nothing wrong with that, but is a big difference fabricating a well fitting, legal and safe cage versus a kit.

I don't normally call folks out on honest mistakes, but this is just negligence. This shop has no business fabricating roll cages, especially "professionally".

Yup I read the website BS...and I spent a little time trying to figure out who in NASA race to show this thread to. The guy should definitely not be a scrutineer. He is using the NASA credentials as a reference to his business/abilities. Seems like a pretty big liability for NASA.

SCARY!!

The last one I saw that was so nice was in Neville Green's X-Ratty.

I'm real glad to have Dave Clark's efforts in my cage.
It has saved the contents of the car a few times!!

Just for the record, I got a full refund. Can we make this thread go away now?
