as of tonight i got my old merkur back! Game plan is to get the rx7 finished first before anything stupid happens with this car, but i have a T5 already in my possession. Going to pull a supra 4.3 diff this weekend. After that, ill start side saving to the swap kit stuff and a mustang driveshaft!

I've been thinking of one but I'd be limited to the Type 9 and stock rear for my purposes, which is kind of off-putting.

I did 5.9 rallies on a T9. They are not too bad, you just have to take care of them.

"Haulin' Colin" McCleary did 49 rallies with one--and probably never checked the oil level!

Stick with the T9 and weld the dif. Reinforce the stock suspension, and rally the car. Work ONE issue at a time after that.

Robert Gobright is working on my car now. It's got so many (awesome) custom parts that create unforseen difficulties. You probably have more know-how and tools, but for me, each issue would be months delay due to time, knowledge, tools, and research.

A few basic reliability upgrades and all the standard stuff like seats and cage.. go rally.

My car will be ready to go... to Hawaii with me where there is no rally for the next three years. Hopefully I can keek it in good shape over there, work out some issues, and come back to rally!

Time to start the HRS (Hawaii Rally Series).

JV is right. You also have to be ready to leave family for years (many of my friends and colleagues have spent over half their time in the navy deployed), and be ready to face real danger. The worst spot I've ever been in was landing on the ship at night in bad weather. Terrifying.
Now I've got a cake assignment flying the Gulfstream G5 out of Hickam AFB. Jet goes to 51000 feet, flies for 12 hours, and we have a personal chef. Wonder if they do vegan?! Visitors welcome... HRS in the works!

I kid Jason, I LOVE those G5's I have worked on them a bit. One of the most enjoyable fligts I have been on was in the Lear 23 that my company owned. That little thing was quick and nimble!
