Rally Car:
XR4TI a slow build!

Well, in order to be around my family and not get divorced I gave up jets that go upside down in favor of this deal. The flying is boring. The travel can be exhausting, but I've actually gotten to see parts of the world I wouldn't have otherwise. Key is to get away from the American Military wherever you go. Some of my favorite memories have been making friends with Italian bike riders and covering hundreds of miles by bicycle all over Sicily!
I'm in agreement that the GV is a waste of $$. Our entire job is to carry the Commander Pacific Fleet around. I think that Admirals are little more than spoiled politicians.
Anyway.. Good to see so many involved with aviation here! Thread creep

so John, lets talk bushings. I have that severe shutter under braking going on. Whats the best, rally approved way to deal with that?

need to get the transmission stuff in line too. clutch is basically non existent after today.. so might as well swap the T5 and diff if am having to pull and replace...

Goes to the not needed recirculation valve...Same POS as found on Saab 900s and some Portches...
The often warp and don't seal so the poor turbo has to work its heart out to try and make boost but with a portion pissing away, it can't.

also the diaphragm rips.. And they suck.

Remember the 900 rad is any year from 1979 to 1992. Look at the number of rows and the number of fins per inch...some have more than others. If you look enough you find all metal ones
Turbos have 2 flat fans, non-turbo 1 flat,, one not flat... so for 2 flat fans get turbo or n.a and swap them before carrying the junk to the counter..
Peel back the cover for the electrical leads and snip off the connecter 3-5" up the loom and you'll have two nice connectors ..

I re-wrire the fan circuits to use the nice thero-switch in the rad...and use a normal relay..
I have posted the Saab wiring many times, the fans are fed hot juice and the thermo-switch grounds the circuit, that means one skinny wire carry no juice up to an on/off switch lets you turn the fans on...

also, can i remove the weenie sway bar from the rear? whats the thoughts on that? figure it would apply the usual thoughts of "more travel" without it.

Building a Merkur

I used Volvo 240 radiator and IC. Simple bottom bracket, IC's available at the Pick n Pull. Slightly modified stock radiator fan, new radiators for $98. 75-93 240 uses the same rad, pretty sure they comtinued to use it on the 740.

I did sun the Cossie IC and Saab combo in my street XR and it was good also.
