No you lost me John.

Are you saying my crankcase is at 150-200psi?

The purpose of the pcv valve is to shut the tube that connects the crankcase to the intake when the intake builds pressure. Why even have one if it doesn't matter if turbo/intake pressure is going into the crankcase? Stock, there is a large tube connecting the crankcase to the intake (right after the throttle body)...you don't think 30psi is enough to push out the dipstick?

What I was saying was two part...more boost equals a slight increase in gases going past the rings/pistons and more boost also means that the plastic motorcraft pcv valve isn't going to seal as well at >20 psi. More air from both directions = an increase in crankcase pressure and an excited dipstick. Note: cranckcase pressure can also travel up the oil drains in the head and out the valve cover vent that leads to the preturbo intake but it is a small tube.

I could be wrong though....only how I understood it. Personally my dipstick is doing very well though thank you very much. hahaha Ok, I'll admit that i have the stock pcv valve and haven't gone past 17psi yet....

If he has good compression and its not smoking I'd say pcv valve. If he has 90psi in a cylider, well there you go...

Yeah yeah, I'm skimming really.
Already gave him the answer clearly LEAKDOWN, and of course just unplug the PCV valve....its just a ball in a can so soak it clean it soak and reinstall.

But LEAKDOWN..

Then at least ya know what shap the engine is in...

well ill do the leak down. car only runs at 10psi at the moment anyway. Not exactly a screamer!

what size for the AN off the valve cover? -6an?

also if given the choice between an SVO transmission and a 88 turbocoupe transmission, gearing wise, im really opting for the SVO since first is 3.50 over the 3.94 in the T-bird...

eventually i want the 2.95. not in the budget at this time however.

Ask Ford, not Grant.

Ford used -10. One thru the back of the valve cover, one from the flame trap--both to catch can side inlet, bottom drain back to the sump.
Interestingly, one vapor outlet in the top of the can to another can in the wheel arch at base of A pillar. Water vapor rises, and that leads them away...

Here's from a old post (Everything you need to know is somewhere in these gawddamn books): this one comes out of the sump

I made copies out of GM AC condensor cans:

Easy peasy..

Also, make sure to use a Ford PCV valve, and the correct one. If the PCV valve is leaking under boost it will pressurize the crankcase.

Whaddya say about a nice quiet bath in a carb and choke cleaner for the stocker?

I think I stuff a -12 onto the lower vent and welded a -8 or -10, whichever I already had a piece of hose laying around for, onto the valve cover. I think it's -8 but obviously is WAY too small since Ford used bigger in their 500 hp Group A cars. smiling smiley

The oval shaped tin can thing under sticking outta the block.
I don't see the point in ditching it, I just don't like the idea of my pooooor widdle motor inhaling oil laden vapor... Gas has octane of 92-93, oil has octane of like 4...
Do we really want to feed that to the motor?

Yep. The Folvo has bad seals right now, nice blue smoke on startup, and dipstick stays put at 18psi.

John, in reference of the helpers for the front. Spring is a 225 metal tag on it. And i have this much space. I have them spun all the way down right now.
