yeah i know, i should have specified, the quick release's on the Hans are the new parts, the helmets belong to Rally Worx, not me, they are for the rental program, No point in replacing them till AFTER they expire, right...

2013 Rally Amurikah rules:

ARTICLE 5: REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT

events must wear helmets that meet one of the following standards:

The snell approved helmet(G79) that peltor makes look a good bit different than those.

found out from the tuner that my car wasn't starting right becuz my ECM uses the coolant temp sensor for fuel mapping at idle, and mine was pegged at -40.... turns out my car uses a 3 pin sensor, not the 2 pin that a turbo uses, and was in it.. SO got that squared away, BUT had to get some help re-installing the alternator ...

Was able to get the car tuned this time, just a fat base map to get the car used to E85, so much less expensive than race fuel.
Car runs great, i have about 200 easy miles on this engine now, i changed the oil and filter at 100 miles, and will again at 500~600 per the directions from Delta cams. By then the engine should be ready for a slightly more aggressive tune and a dyno pull or 2 to see what numbers it puts out.. the way it sits it pulls pretty hard to the easy 6500 red line, way harder than my stock 07 impreza, but some of that could be the weight difference, and the 4:44 gearing.

Of course this is a rally car, so 3 steps forward 2 steps back..lol...

My ignition cylinder locked up, and wont turn with the key, so will be installing a switched ignition and push start.

AND my Qrack separated in the middle, and mangled the hard lines.. no surprised since this was in the 09 BRS rock crash open car. after a 20 min chat with Qrack it turns out all i need is a new to me housing, gasket kit, and some time with a file to swap the guts. not as angry as i was.

video here if u want to see WHY im not too surprised it finally broke.

Next time you do a new engine fire up, think about doing the oil change at 1 good heat cycle--ie engine up to normal temp, cooling system burped--if it needs it.---and fans switch on.

I always say fire up with water, run around like crazy checking for water leaks and run it 2000-2500-or so (warms up sooner doing something more than mere idle)
So once the fans have cycled and all the forgotten hose clamps* are tightened, shut her down, dump oil and water and swish the oil around in a glass jar and backlight with a nice 150w bulb....it's always shocking how ugly the oil is---of course the cam break in grease--basically Moly-EP and a touch of 90 Gear oil---is black and colors the oil real nice---and is alleged to tend to plug filters..

Next cut open the filter, open up the pleats and again with a good light, look in the bottom of the pleats..

You don't want to see any silver/grey metal flake finish...you do, find out... it ain't gonna get better.

THEN do another change at 100 then at 500 miles..

See why I use Rotella T? Comes in gallons and is less than spark ignition oils---but it IS rated S also....so don't worry.

My engine guy, and cam maker both said the 100, and 500... so thats was the plan... i cant see it hurting anything to change it after one heat cycle, but that point has passed....

We dont ever run the fancy expensive oils in the engine, oil and filter gets changed after every rally, and the gear oil every 3rd, we do run red line in the rear and in the dog box.

Well they may say it but too me that shows amazing self-confidence.
The good engine guys I know in USA, UK, Sweden, France, Finland all say the same. The idea, especially on expensive engines-but applies to stock rebuilds as well---is to see early on if there's any problems... that's also why we cut open the filter..
If they didn't say that the they are lousy at customer support.

And---I would NOT use Redline oil in anything I give a shit about..
It fails standard industry tests on aeration---it becomes a air/oil emulsion
...Air bubbles don't lube or cushion as well as oil does..

That should be warning enough for you to think about using something else---unless of course you don't care...
