OK so that is enough scrolling down in the previous thread.

The Volvo got it's 9" pumpkin removed for gear ratio change surgery.

The Turbo got pulled to redo the plumbing from what will be different exhaust manifolds to it. The manifolds I'll be using will be a nice improvement over the really fugly Volvo manifolds.

Kudos to Dave Clark for choosing the right fasteners and materials when assembling this stuff eight years ago. Not a one fastener broke upon disassembly.

Note to self: Clay mud makes a dandy ceramic coating on the exhaust parts in the area of the turbo. No rust or scaling on all that mild steel material.

Built a new 3" SS exhaust that goes up and over the rear subframe, and around the fuel cell. It's going to clatter like a SOB but if we crush this one there's bigger problems.

Found and fixed grouning issue with auxillary lights.

Installed 14" rear springs... hopefully won't coil bind now.

Well, last night, I blew a water line on the turbo and had to replace it. Of course that involves removing half the intake system. (I can't wait to strip this turd down and simplify things!)

Half-ass installed a water temp gauge so I can keep better tabs on coolant temps while I'm driving it than the stock gauge allows.

This weekend, I'll be adjusting the shifter to get 5th and reverse back, then properly wiring up my gauges.

I will be eliminating the water to my turbo. The motor always has fresh synthetic oil. Not too much worry about coking up the bearings.

The 9" rear will also lose 25lbs via replacing the nodular iron pumpkin with an Al-yoo-Min-ee-um part. Less unsprung weight. Woo-hoo.

Today I have cleaned up the T-4 flange so that it is ready to accept bigger tubes from the much better exhaust manifolds to feed it.

The turbo will now deliver exhaust to the passenger side so that it need not cross under the transmission.

This will improve placement of the air filter and servicability.

Oh.... Prolly a better pressure ratio for the turbo too.

Yum!!

Now I gots to scare up some 2" .120 wall DOM steel tube.

I finally managed to get the rally car back to square one so that I can begin installing a full set of new suspension bushings. I managed to blow out the exhaust manifold gasket, ruin a set of spark plug wires, and create a leak in the gas tank all in a matter of a few miles. I can't wait until sandblast 2008.

I put in Cossie headlights, on a cossie grill, finished the front skidplate mount, new mounting tabs for VW bumper and a few more Dzuz fasteners. Found out that it sounds like I have a sick cam at idle and that I have pissed antilag when revving it up when it's only firing on three cylinders.

Friends around the shop were working on a FIA Custom Cages install into a GC8 Impreza, cage into a Audi 90 coupe, seam welding a STI, and final gussets into a Golf. That was all slightly before the fireworks and police raid. See Specialstage if you want to hear that story. It was quite the rally car party. There are: A G2 Focus, G2 Rabbit, four Open GC8 Imprezas, Gubelman's N8 Impreza, my G5 Merkur, a G2 Golf, a Open STI, a PGT Audi 90, and a G2 Celica currently at the shop. That's 12 rally cars.

Replaced the Audi front struts yesterday, they've been out since Olympus. Car has been on jackstands since May 1st. Pathetic...shame on me. Brent hit the key today and it fired first time and idled. Now to decide how to add some more power..lot's of old 5000 turbo donors around or maybe 20 valve NA. Leaning towards turbo due to cheapness of parts. C'mon DooWops !!

The Steel is due to arrive today.
I'll be ordering up a bunch of goodies from Burns Stainless.
This will be amusing.

The Volvo is on stands.

It will have mostly fresh exhaust from the exhaust manifolds to the rear of the car.
