More than two weeks with nothing to 'save rally' will save rally.
Or maybe 'events with lower entry fees, record entries, and that finish ahead of schedule' will save rally. (and what's with so many people being allowed to get away without their real names or locations in their profiles these days? that was a bannination offense not that long ago wasn't it?) |

Maybe rally has been saved.

Really now be honest---wouldn't you feel idiotic addressing people in real life by names like shenkerism MistrThou The Full Banana fjing60 Lord_Athlon pinguin 1BEATK5 thebornotaku wade454ss Hotdoggin hiperfauto Why the anonymity then? Is it becuase the internet grew out of Uber-nerd-u-lar Golem like creatures who were weak ass cowards and wanted to hide so they could say anything and be in one little area in life equal? Wasn't the question, now was it? This is an imperfect medium at best, it has atomized the world more than it has brought people together and these phony names and anonymity serves no point. What an odd conclusion to jump to. I enjoy meeting new people. Love getting to know people. Find it tough to really know all but a few. Maybe I'm an oddity in this cyber age, but: I haven't really met someone until I've felt the grip of their handshake and looked into their eyes. I don't feel I've started to know someone until I can make them laugh, or comfort their sorrows. I sure don't think I know anyone because I've read their name in an online profile. |

Not a conclusion, its framed as a question...the .... thing can be seen as trailing off. And the rest I agree.. I find it very strange when people say "I wuz talking to" when they're clicking and clacking... Its therefore I think the made up names and the hiding who one is to be very odd since here we cannot meet so many in person. So a little thing like name and where one lives is a start anyway. I just got a call from what sounds like a real nice guy in Saskatoon. He'd gotten a Cosworth turbine housing I'd sold to somebody up there and was having odd boost issues so we yack and suddenly I saw i was 10 minutes late in picking up my 2 daughters from school so i had to run.. Got back, I call him up and we continued the troubleshooting and we're both on the same page and then HE has to "Oh sh1t now I gotta run, call you in 5" So the we talked about kids, his 3 and 5 and mine just 10 and in a couple of weeks 8...Nice talk, enthusiastic guy, good thinking process.. It was nice. Name is Nick, and I can help him..All open, no weirdness.. But it would be odd if he insisted on remaining "secretive" and "Oh I don wanna say my REAL name" Friendly and open till I know with certainty if that friendliness is misplaced, that's the way I prefer things.. Growing up we had a neighbor who's dentures made talking with him a definite 'clicking and clacking' experience. But, ya... I know what you mean. Fersure It's good to know that when Dave Clark says something here that we know who's-a-sayin' it. I thought you were against Nick names... (bwahaha) But - really - what's in a name?

From now on, the MSA wants to see a working safety plan from any multi-venue rally in Britain. Those events must also work with a safety delegate from the MSA. Marshals are going to be trained - most probably via easy-to-access online coaching. And licensed. Minimum numbers will also be established before a stage can go live. And finally, the way the media works on rallies is also being overhauled, with a more stringent accreditation process likely to be applied in the future.
... Recommendations in this case had little to do with offering advice. The real message was between the lines; new law lay between the lines. Jones is quite clear: when government speaks, governing body listens. And acts. Hence the immediate policy shift on those headline five. "The review could have been condemnatory," says Jones, "but there is no suggestion of banning rallying or banning spectators on rallies..." Another pause. This one's left hanging. But rocket science isn't required to fill this void. ... Wales Rally GB, like all forest events in Britain, is living on borrowed time. The FC has not renewed its agreement with the MSA for us to use the likes of Dyfi, Grizedale and Dalby. At the moment, we have a single-year extension of the deal until December 31 2015. And here's the rub. Should we not wholeheartedly accept and enforce everything the Scottish Government says, there will be no new deal. And rallying will be dead. At least in the woods. And it's been a while since the RAC's been anywhere else... Grant Hughes |
