Amen to that...I spend way too much time building cars trying to get them right rather than just racing what I have!

Problem is that if you've been spoiled by something really nice, really purpose built and all correct for the job, say a simple moto-cross bike, then there are so many areas on production cars that need attention either immediately or will soon enough, or that cause such painful loss of forward oooomph that we have to do a fair amount of things to make cars mo better.

It's gonna be a hell of a lot cheaper than my Subaru!! It's about spending buckets of money on the right aspects of the car.....

I'll take an additional 200lbs to have a proper motor/gearbox combo. The reality of it is that I can give your cousin a ride as well and still finish in the same spot I usually do.....

Saw your stuff up at Spitfire EFI Adam, looks like GOOD stuff. Please get some more ponies down, I want to get beaten badly by someone locally in G2, or at least in a good fight. You can drive, get the motor dialed...I expect you to be starting in front of me soon.

We'll be working on tuning over the next couple weeks.

I see your guys' point. I do. And I think the BEAMS swap is killer.

I think my problem is I don't have that kind of money to spend on a motor and trans and I'm basing what I think you should do off of what I would have to do. But I realize you have to pay to play and I'm also starting to realize it's not just about being out there, it's about being competitive or else what's the point? And in the end after all the torn up shit after every stage and every rally, 4 grand on a motor isn't that big a deal.

Also I found out that Greddy makes an oil pan that should clear your crossmember.
And with a factory ecu + harness you should be able to make the throttle by wire stuff work just fine.

The 3sge should only weigh ~50lbs more than a 4age.

I was looking into tacoma 2.4 and 2.7 liter 2rzfe/3rzfe engines today. You might consider one of those. There's a ton of aftermarket support for em and supply is a lot higher than the demand. Now... they're cast iron block and taller than a 4age so again a weight issue but they're stout and inexpensive.

The 2RZ-FE is a 2.4 L (2438 cc) Bore is 95 mm and stroke is 86 mm. Output is 142 hp @ 5000 RPM with 160 ft·lb of torque @ 4000 RPM.

The 3RZ-FE is a 2.7 L (2693 cc) Bore is 95 mm and stroke is 95 mm. Output is 150 hp @ 4800 RPM with 177 ft·lb of torque @ 4000 RPM.

Cams really help wake them up. $600 for cams, that'll shift the powerband up (1500-7500) and should increase the output to over 200hp still with gobbs of torque.
