Lots of big cardboard boxes for making cage templates. Took some pics of the gas tank, haven't uploaded em. Haven't had the time.
Any luck finding an adapter for the steering wheel? I haven't looked yet but I thought I remember them being a little tough to come by. |

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009IZAANA I know grant makes em too, for like half the price I believe. I'll double check the rulebook as I don't remember there being anything special about em. |

oh boy - another sucker for punishment
I run rear locked, I have a linear motor that locks/unlocks the center - the only reason for this is to make it more drivable off the stages. Otherwise I run center and rear locked. handling is fine - however, i've moved the caster significantly forward, and have also moved the stearing arm point on the arms back. Increased pressure in the power steering pump. As I said, geometry works well, don't have any issues w/push. 20vt - running a bit more than 140hp ... |

Haha I know! Def feel pretty blessed these days. Gonna be pretty well busy the next year! Kind of a sad deal with the welder. Is my dads. Since his pacemaker a couple of years ago, he hasn't been able tour it... now it'll get used! Just need a Tig now..... |

Thanks for the insight! I figure I'll get some seat time and then start tinkering. 140hp out of a 3b? Even spinning all 4 tires I would have imagined more. I think my 7a will be right around there. I've drooled over your airborne 4k numerous times btw.... do you have more pics/info on it? |

"a bit above 140hp" was tongue in cheek We're getting over 300 ftlb at the wheels - expecting an ECU upgrade this week that should improve numbers quite a bit.
I don't have lots of time to keep up with various interweb sites - but you can take a look at: http://www7.motorgeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25076 - topic is "Rally Audi rebuild - the revival" Also more pics at www.blissrally.com and more on my FB page Feel free to ask questions, however, compared to the cumulative knowledge you'll find on this forum I'm a mere babe finding his way through the woods - heed well the teachings grasshopper - if there were a 'like' button - that would have been appropriate for JV's move the fuel pumps scenario's... Initially I used a 3/8" aluminum plate to mount the 2 fuel pump setup under the car - I plain, just got lucky - what prompted me to move them to the trunk was the last time I looked, I had a pretty good leak. If you're building the car, just do it now... The other thing I'd recommend is to take the time to get all the undercoating off the damn thing - I don't know how many fires I've started welding this and that here and there...my car was never stripped, and never stitch welded - and has over 50 rally's on it (not all mine) - Germans made some pretty tough cars back in the day. |

I started with the GT2871 - too much lag and the restrictor just chocked the hell out of it, never got more than 24 psi boost. Went to the GTX2860 (Marc has a guy that can retrofit billet cold sides for the GTs) and we were getting into the 28psi range - but the MAP sensor on the ecu was a 2.5bar, so need an 4bar installed so we can get everything from this turbo.
Lots of low end torque |

. Thanks again for the advice Vittorio! Your car is def motivation for me. There's a bunch of things I'll end up going through(fuel system especially), next summer after I can at least get the car moving under its own power. With the initial expenses I'm trying to hit the essentials right away and then collect parts over time in chunks for other things, to keep the BIG buys at a minimum. Help ease the pain a little bit haha. |

Well, my son is now 2 weeks old and things have started to "settle down" a little bit. At least we have the house to ourselves haha. 2 weeks of non stop family and in laws staying with us. Very greatful for the help but, woooohoooooooo! They're gone!!!!!!
Haven't touched the car other than cutting the moonroof support out last week. Weather was nice and with a house full of inlaws, cutting and ripping things apart felt appropriate! Made me simmer down a bit anyhow...... The Camry I was DDing to work and back(90mi round trip,) started making some lower end noise that I didn't like, so I unloaded it. And bought this for damn near nothing!!!! $1400!!!!!! Needs a wheel bearing and a window. Figure I'll DD this thing until I can move up a class and then swap the AAN and 01E into the 4k. Always thinking ahead! Also put the APB out last week on the Facebooks, looking for a co driver. A good friend, who's also starting a shop, jumped right in. Wants to be part of it all while promoting his shop and whatnot. Even kicking in some cash here and there for stuff. Had a few beers with him, scratching some stuff on paper and it's shaping up to be a pretty good partnership! Well see how it unfolds but it's pretty kick ass start! It's been hotter than shit the past few days so there is absolutely no motivation other than finagling getting a cage figured out cash wise. Seat question! I picked up that corbeau a couple weeks ago and am prob gonna snag anothe one here pretty quick. I picked up some rec tubing and some flat steel to figure out mounting them up once my steering wheel hub shows up. Do you need to have the manufacturers universal fixed mount(bottom mount) in place or can I just completely build everything? They're metal framed seats with no bases. A pair a fixed bases are like $200+ new and I'd still have to build something to mount them to.... Any thoughts? |

Looks like someone already swapped out the stock coils - great! I've got two S-cars as DD's - they have their quirks, but if you're handy with a wrench and the internet you should be good to go...mine has 301k mi with an RS2 package. Did a head gasket about 60k ago (in the car). good luck with it...

Forget that, put a window and wheel bearing in it and sell it for $4000 and use the cash for your 4000.... People buy up these S-cars like hot cakes if they don't have rust or major mechanical issues. ____________________________________________________________- One.
