honestly since the cheaper Bell helmet is only at 230. Its pretty much whatever. As long as i can still use the SFI rated Hutchens in the states, Im fine with that too. The peltor was a really nice helmet, but im tall, my heads rattles off the roll cars some times anyway.

It really is amazing how quickly room in a rally car disappears, cage, padding, helmet. |

Sometimes being 5'8'' and skinny pays off! I am kind of bummed I only have 2 seasons left on my Peltor but that would be 4 years of use so it's not as bad as it could be. Plus knowing I have 2 more years to get a new helmet gives me plenty of time to decide what to buy next and hopefully try on a couple different helmets. |

i cant really warrant the expense. I would rather race another event for the cost difference, like mt. hood.

A note on helmets:
If you can't hear over the intercom, you are going to miss something like the second half of "left 6 into right 3 closing" ,,, get the one with the built in headset stuff if you can, it makes a big difference. I'm pretty bummed about the peltor I got just last year, but whatcha gonna do? |

Just thought i'd chime back in on this thread. I was able to confirm that NASA rallysport is still accepting Peltor helmets with the BS 6658-85 certification though at least 2014.

And I'd also chime in that I had excellent success taking my old Peltor intercom equipment and grafting it into the Bell Sport Mag. It's even more comfortable than the old Peltor. Just make sure you follow the Bell sizing chart. A medium Peltor is NOT equivilant to a medium Bell. For $250 its a win-win. Nice comfortable helmet that is good for years to come, with the great audio you already have from Peltor. Don't go blow money on a new $900 peltor.

Well that's what I say but what the hell do I know? I do know if you do what youse are suggesting to do and you're not going to get to hang with The BIG Boys like Kenny and Travvie and Sebbie or Jari...Image is everything... You gotta be in with the In crowd. Think of spending $900 as an investment.... It shows you're serious about looking PROFESSIONAL... and you do it and the sponsors will be tripping over themselves to force you to sign a big contract. So you were able to graft the ear cups as well as the mic into the Bell? Or did you just add the speakers and the mic? Any pictures of the ear cups in the new helmet? |

Funnily enough there was a big stink back in the 70s in Sweden from SVEMO (Swedish motorcycle body) and Svenskabilsportförbundet (the car federation) forbidding ANY stickers at all on helmets because they said the glues "might possibly cause reaction" with the helmet.. And no paining of helmets... Of course it was hilarious the er um er derp derp! when we asked if they had tested to orignal paint, the makers sticker---and their own approval stickers.... The answer was "'UUuh er uhm that should be investigated!" Yeah right.....No other Federation in Europe had any issues with paint or stickers.
