I mean seriously.
Let's talk about why we can't make this happen in America. Wouldn't you guys racing on a paved track rather do this: I mean-this ain't Roadraceanarchy.com-why are you even here? I mean-so far I'm just a lowly cone-squisher guy-but at least the cones are in the dirt! I keed you guys(sorta),but a quick Googling of crap cans for sale in America-cheapest was $2500, one for $7500 and 1 for $9000. Fuck that-these guys in Sweden,Finland, etc. finish the race and anyone can buy the car for about $1000-that's cheap racing! Now I admit-I look at the the work on many of these shitcars over there and think-no way could we build that for $1000 in the US-but what do you think we COULD build them for? And what cars? I mean-no silly $500 basic car rule + safety gear-but bottom dollar(but still safe)like the cars in these vids? $2000? $3000? Even everyone's favorite event here ![]() http://xgames.espn.go.com/pt-BR/rally-moto-x/article/9259021/x-games-barcelona-why-scandinavians-good-rallycross Track venue issues? Insurance? Lawsuits? Whats stopping us? If this shit was happening in my town on Saturday nights-I wouldn't miss a race and i'd be figuring out a way to build one of these shitboxes. Would you guys? I even have a local track in my neck of the woods -thats already been ran on at an scca event by cone-squishers(including myself)that with a few mods would work great. Not my run-but found on youtube-it's the trophy truck course at Glen Helen-made kindler and gentler by cone placement for us wimpy stockish cone squisher types-but remove most or all of the cones and -voila!-Folkrace in the US-Bitches! Like John V. says-these guys across the pond have a leg-up on us in the skills department for a reason-why not do what they do? My 14 year old-could be driving in one now-and think how good he might be by his 20's if he sticks with it. This could be the thing that saves....well maybe I better not go there! Anyway-besides discussing-I've seen way better vids of Folkrace-but ain't finding them now-post up vids guys! ................................................. ..................... Mike it ain't $1000 to build it. Clearly some spend more.
It's XXXX sek to CLAIM IT. Now I've know about Folkrace since seem like forever, and I used to glance at reports, results and talk to guys who did it--and used to buy some parts from folkrace maniacs, I didn't ever recall hear of frequently cars getting claimed.. As to your question. Because we're basically softies. Americans look at us. we're old and fat and soft as a Nation. We want things easy. auto-hex is easy--they brag you don't have to do anything, Le Chump man is easy cause you "don't take it serious". And above all somebody else has already done everything: the track is built and permitted and a going thing with no effort. Hard to do anything when the big tradition in this country is "The Big Easy"... John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Because there is too much vaginal silicosis, that's why.
The last Lemons race I was even remotely involved with, the car that the competitors decided to have crushed (the oil glass engine-fucker treatment) was a 944 because it was a Porsche. Mind you, it was running in something like 122nd out of 124 entrants after twelve hours, but screw those guys we need to fuck them up. Vaginal silicosis any time there are people sharing a track. I think its because no one has built or converted a ficility to do it. The fairs around here have been doing bump and runs for the last few years with good success. I cant figure out why nobody has made a course and attemted it. There is a local guy to me who was trying to get the side by sides to run a track he made. Im sure cars would be a blast there.
If I had the land I would build a track. maybe some of the motor cross tracks could put something together. I'm not trying to make it seem like, pshhhhhh, I can single handedly bring folkrace to america, hold my beer. It just seems like it would be alot easier to get participants if you had people with already built cars AKA chumpcar/lemons. And isn't the hardest thing about organizing a new event getting people to go?

Come to think about it wasn't there something similar being started in California?

Beatercross is in MN. They still do it and its pretty popular, they fill the stands, sell beer and its like $10 a person. Its entertaining but its not at all the same as folkrace. Its on a small motocross course and its pretty much just rednecks in shit boxes going off jumps. Most races are decided on which cars still run after a few laps and can survive a few heats, typically honda civics. Think demo derby (no intentional hits) with laps and a checkered flag.
