Then tightening the belts makes ups for any slop.
Except it doesn't, when it counts. Belts stretch...
A loose fitting seat (sideways) can really hurt you in a side impact. One of my drivers had broken ribs from taking a tree in the door behind him ... a relatively soft impact as it was mostly sheet metal that got hit. (although it did shear the back stay off the strut mounts.)

So was it the belt or the seat that caused the broken ribs??

Pretty sure it was the tree. The belt and seat prevented the death or serious disability.

Sideways movement in the seat. His belts were tight.

I sell all kinds of safety gear. Your height and skinnyness is going to be tricky to find a seat and suit. Does the car not come with any safety gear?

Somebody the other day was like, "that style of seat mount is what failed in ____'s car and they broke backs." I said, "the problem wasn't the seat mount it was the head on into a tree at 110 MPH. The fact they are alive means everything worked as it is supposed to."

Belts.
G-Force ones Gene linked for cheapness.
If you want something nicer, I always like Sabelt ones and that is what I choose to sell even though I can get about anything.
I did one rally with the cheapest seat and cheapest belts. It was a fine experience but I did suffer for it in comfort in the short term and bought the nicest I was willing to afford in future.

Helmet/intercom, I prefer Peltor stuff. Stilo is fine too. Again, I used Terratrip for one event. It was fine but it sucks. The Bell with Peltor built in seems like a good value.

the car doesn't come with seat/harness. Which even if it came with seats they probably wouldn't be tall enough.

Sideways movement in the seat. His belts were tight.

So the movement in the seat could have caused the belts to pull hard into the ribs or the motion from too wide of a seat could cause the ribs to smack the side bar of the seat.

That's the "theory." But the reality of the situation is there isn't a seat for everyone. At 6'4" and 140 pounds there will never be a seat that has the correct safe height for the harness holes and not be swimmingly wide for Reece. One option would be to get something like an Ergo L that IS the right height and then a seat kit from BSCI and fill the space so that the seat fits perfectly. Of course, that's an additional $285 kit and better hope you get it right.

Thin sheets of stiff foam work well to bolster seats. You can also use expanding foam inside of a few garbage bags for the ultra cheap seat foam kit. Just shave and grind to fit, and then cover with black duct tape.

There are narrow seats out there. Another thing is the seats that have metal frames can be 'adjusted' a bit in either direction.

Gene,

How dare you suggest tube frame seats... they are just not carbon fibre and cool enough for rally.
