Well of course they're cooler in a way, Timm but in a more itellectual way. But so few people of ordinary income can afford the running costs, that it's just kinda like wanking of photo of nekkid models. Or put another way, is the driving experience cooler in a way that could justify spending 5 or 8 or 20 times as much? Judging by the huge numbers of people who built nasty Evoburus and Sububitchis who dump them and drop out in short order, seems not. > > Feisty Peacock? If you want to win in an AWD car you have to spend many times more what it would take to win in a 2WD car. You can build an AWD car for about the same money, double it if you want it pretty good with a turbo, 4 to 8 times it if you want a chance at winning.
I give all of my Subaru friends' crap for spending more money on their cars so they can place 5th instead of 6th. They are pretty developed Subaru's, but they're still 10-20K from having a chance at winning without relying on the top guys breaking. The top 3-4 AWD cars in the Colorado hill climb series are all over $50K+ build costs. Grant Hughes |

I've got no more than 11 grand tied up in my turbo awd car and it's competitive, at least on a club level. It can be done, with help, and luck. That said, I'm seriously considering converting it to rwd just to have even more fun doing this max attack thing..

I'm right with you on the cast iron for turbo manifolds, but I wouldn't necessarily condemn their manifolds as junk until you know what they did downstream. I did this to my Sentra more than once: but the fault was not the header's. I inadvertantely left off the bracket that supports the bottom of the header, so when ground hit exhaust, exhaust pulled on header, and header let go at the most convenient stress concentration. I did a whole stage like this, with flames shooting out the exhaust ports and 2 inches of standing gasoline in my trunk from a bizzare filler neck leak. I have a whole litany of excuses - wrong tire compound, brake issues, blew a strut, had a headcold, blahblahblah, but the fact of the matter is I kinda sucked this weekend. Jimmy was great, but I just couldn't get into a groove. I drove just fast enough to podium in the regionals, but I'm frankly sort of embarrassed about winning the G2 National. Lots of teams were faster than I was.
Still, it was fun, and I'm really stoked about the 2WD turnout. Cody: that was a fucking awesome drive. Self-righteous douche canoe |

Hey I remember that header breakage. Dave, wasn't it the lsat rally of the No VIN Sentra?
Get back to the topic and keep your eyes on the SS thread started by Jason concerning SS6 fiasco. I refuse to get involved out there, too many ass kissers and such. Cheers M.Samli Phoenix AZ Gaylant VR4 EVO III GSR (Stolen) Rallies are no place for traitors |

Howdy all,
Britta and I had a rally this weekend. It will go down as a "poor" rally in our books. our 5/6 finish record has been rudely jolted. Handling was bad, roads were bad, (technical, which is good) the car was slightly ill tempered, we finished though. 63 cars started 35 finished. Dead last, and only on sunday's event. there was an in-car camera, which I blame for some of the bad moves. on the plus side, my car has been up on the EXPN.com entry site. wait for the words rally to scroll into view, it is the second picture. i'll let you know when i have movies and pictures to share, there aren't any results worth looking at, here: http://www.rally-america.com/Archives/2008/OREGON/day/day_index.html "I put the hurt on dirt" - adam crane http://CraneRallyCrew.com corolla gt-s "Patches" Op: S.S. |

Sorry to hear it Adam, get that thing handling again, what do you think about a quickener? It inspired a hell of alot more confidence in the car when we got one in...
