See some of us are Dinosaurs and just find addressing somebody solely as an anonymous "Screen name" is childish, and can't take serious much written by nameless--hidden, unknown people. The main idea was: If you want to write something, then stand by it. And with your REAL NAME right there miraculously, aside of one obnoxious ancient troll/liar, we haven't been swamped by punk ass guys trying to prove how ginormous their e-penises are like in most forums where people can hide in anonymity. We've seen people, aside from one or two assholes, write a lot more like we're normal humans and more important, we've seen several cases of people noticing that they're on the same geographical area and make some connection. > > John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! I'm not a meany or a grouch but according to several polls, about 30% of readers on SS.com think I am, and think I am enough to write posts (full of insults--especially bitter when oddly enough I can't even try to answer) saying I should be banned. Just for a little sarcasm, parody, and irony. > > however, since the worms are now out and > squirming, if it's such a strict rule, seems to me > you shouldn't have the option to post until that > information is filled in Because we, the founders and seemingly the newbs too, think coercion is fawked up and reckon we're dealing with adults who ought to be amenable to reason, not threats. Think about it, a lot of what we do depends on personal compliance and I'll say that those places which we find more preferable to live or even visit are those places which have more people willingly complying with the simple rules, and less external coercion and the places that are no fun are those with HEAVY HANDED THREATS and LOTS of people who routinely sheet all over every rule even if it makes sense. That's one reason I live here in the PNW and not in SoCal, Arizona , Texas or the South, or Italy or the US NE. Watch it Old Fart, I live in Arizona
OK, it's time for me to stir up shit because I feel it's necessary. Two issues; 1- Car rolls on SS6, stage delayed, not canceled, marshal says delay, competitors hear delay. Time goes by, stage declared cleared, marshal say "Go rally, balls to the wall". Competitors comply, but when they come to the service they find out that they are given the time of the slowest competitor to complete the stage prior to the roll. No satisfactory explanation given, the practice contradict with what the rule book says. Competitors who had a faster time than the slowest car to complete the stage prior to the roll feel cheated. Which brings the issue of how poorly the start list and seeding process is. Competitors feel cheated but as usual RA doesn't give a fuck. 2- SupRegs say after finish stay in the Parc Ferme, but during drivers meeting they say go to car wash after finish, there is no bulletin posted about the change, nobody can officially say whether there is a Parc Ferme or not, Jason does what a GOOD Codriver should do, sticks to the SupReg. Another competitor leaves Parc Ferme, Jason puts an inquiry. Does that make Jason a bad person ? Not at all, that makes him an efficient Codriver who knows the rules and wants them applied. To his chagrin, this is RA and RA has rules that are applied when they are convenient to apply, other times they can be disregarded or bent or twisted. I ask those who try to make Jason a scape goat, if you were to observe someone in your class break a rule, any rule, would you stay quiet with worries of popularity or would you put an inquiry ? Is there a difference between leaving a Parc Ferme without permission and say, using a route different than the one prescribed in the route book ? Jason is an excellent codriver. Was it a Parc Ferme? I hadn't seen that. Regardless of what the rule is, I still don't like the style.
Wouldn't getting lost on a transit be technically deviating from the route book? I've missed a junction before and went a mile or two down the road then had to turn around. If you're the competitor right behind me and you see me do this, do you file a inquiry/protest at the next service? As for the car wash, the organizers should have pulled a Rally Colorado and had the route book direct you directly to and through the car wash, before the final MTC. The stage 6 fiasco baffles me. I can understand giving the competitors who lost time on the stage a fixed time, but not assigning that time to the rest of the guys who drove the whole stage flat out, taking chances, etc. Grant Hughes |
