Maybe a disc from someplace other than Auto-zoo rebuilt in Galapagos Islands out of organic guano next time If you're gonna rev it to 9k, maybe a pucky type disc.

Maybe.

for some reason, (crews in) cars that end up running without windshields don't seem to be amused when control workers make jokes about air conditioning, or try to hand them their timecards back through the windshield, etc.

Well it wasn't an Oreilly's clutch, it was an Exedy Sport type. And there's already a puck type Exedy Race waiting for the new flywheel to play with.

sintered iron!

Sintered Iron might be a slight overkill for my little 1.6.

Just what do you think the 3 or 4 or 6 puck things are?

Hmmmmmm seems the Japanese aftermarket stuff, invariably made in China really, it SEEMS they like to play "suuuuuuuupa right weight" game---and marginal heat capapcity....

Did you order a steel flywheel? Or some shitty aluminum POS?

The use of the word "should" should be forbidden.

...I wonder seriously if, since the early 1990s if there are any body out there aside from Holmes and the Saab V4s that have entered with pushrod motors?

Air cooled VWs are pushrod motors. And at least one of them enters a number of events every year.
