Clutch is mounted to the pedal box, and both brakes are up by the shifter so I can see easily if they start to lose fluid...and/or they're easier to fill come bleeding time. No issues that I've seen so far.

Dave, how about an update on the rear diff after the Weir stage 2 kit install? I ordered one last week, because there is a drift day next weekend I want to make it to.

Seems to work as advertised. I did the grunt work of pulling and cleaning parts and the recommended shim thickness turned out to give us an acceptable backlash (as confirmed by Scott). It does feel as though the rear is steering the car better than before, and seems to act locked on decel as well so be prepared for that. Nothing scary, but just something to be ready for.

I've been kicking around the idea of doing a drift event as well, but now it looks like I've got a little prep to do on the Evo for something coming up in a few weeks. smiling smiley

About 6' but I have short legs, so I sit as though I'm a bit taller. If we had done seat brackets differently, the seats could've been put lower...but would've needed more mods to the trans tunnel.

im 6' as well. good head clearance? the rx7 will likely cause a traumatic brain injury due to my head rattling on the cage....

Yep good head clerance. Worst car I ever sat in was a 1st gen eclipse. Padding on the roll bar pushed my head to sit at a 10-15 degree angle and was in constant contact. Sorta what inspired me to cage a GTX instead.

MAYBE, just MAYBE radial mount calipers--which I just happen to have a convenient set of here, MIGHT be made to work... But the spacing is so wide for the caliper lugs....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Radial mount calipers work great.

JVL - no need to spend much time on this project for now. Haven't had a lick of trouble with the brakes on the compact so far...maybe when I have it set up as a Group 5 car I will? But for now, no $$ to look further into it. I've got a hookup on AP calipers and currently run some on the Evo so if radial mount is the way to go on the BMW, I'd want to run mine using APs...same caliper = spares around the shop.

Wasn't spend much time, but was jigging the 50s and that's such a bitch I needed a break before I shot myself so I looked at it. I have a jig bell i made when doing the 40s so it was there...therapy..

I may have the distance thing right, gotta do a temp zap and check...
Made the plates outta 1/4" vs the original 3/16 just cause the BMW fitment is kinda chees-u-lar, like a glorified muffler clamp..

Piccies when I have time.

Sweet!

Could always make the clampy thing wrap further around the strut tube if you thought it was worthwhile (sorta like those subie/mitsu ears). I won't complain about it being a tad bit heavier if you think it'll make it survive a beating better.

Are you adding a touch extra length to the bottom mount so that at raised ride height it'll be closer to running slight negative camber without needing to get all fancy on the strut tops?

Always will to sacrifice a little weight for long term durability.

Trying to get the camber close..hard call really..
