Can he make a bellhousing to fit a RWD transmission to a Honda K-series engine? T5 would be a good choice because of ratios and weight, but I don't know how well a T5 shifts at 7500+ rpm.

I'm sure he could, but it's selling it to him so he thinks he worth his time and money to make. He would do a one off no problem, but that's big money.

his subaru bell housing ended up being much more popular then he had originally thought. He's now had orders from Australia, Europe and some other places around the world.

he has been working on a t5 to 4g63 i think that's to the point of being done now or damn soon.

he makes some odd ball stuff sometimes i really wonder if he would ever really sell. so he might go for something like that. but he seems likes his Mitsubishi stuff the most.

I've got a possible, interesting use for one of these bell housings. Compact engine with good HP/Trq available. 35" between rails should fit it, right..?

The ej22s are in the 29-30" range for width and have compact heads. The widest stuff is the DOHC stuff because the heads are bulky but still its only about 32" wide.

I recently measured out a svx motor, and it came in at 31". So they are all in the same ball park.

1-1/2" per side sounds roomy, say compared to my old VW Beetle...

GM SM420 or SM465 Fourspeed transmission adapter plate... uses same bolt pattern as a T5?
now you have subaru to toyota to t5?

now to cut the firewall, flip the intake and move the engine back.

Well ain't that interesting. I have no idea if those share a t5 pattern at all, but that's thinking outside the box.

Just had to look a little longer:

"The Novak Guide to the
Borg-Warner T4 & T5 Transmissions
The Borg Warner T4 & T5 transmissions were standard shift, four-speed & five-speed transmissions (respectively) found in 1982 to 1986 Jeep CJ models. They are light-duty transmissions found behind the AMC 150 (2.5L) I4 and the AMC 258 I6 (4.2L).
These transmissions are popularly replaced with the SM420 and SM465 transmissions, since they share a similar bellhousing bolt pattern and compact installations."

Novak is looking at trannies for a different app than rallying.....rock crawling stresses are quite different: long-time sustained high torque loads through the whole drivetrain and their supports and mounts, with shcok laods whne wheels get caugth in crevices, etc. And a 3.5ish or 3.95 ratio for rock crawling would be super, 'sepcially with tall wheels. Not a good deal for a good close-ratio trannie for racing/rally. Similarly, axles that are good for rally will break a lot for off-road/rock-crawling. So, IMO, folks would be wise to not take info from a Jeep/4-wheeling site as being the best info for how to build a rally car drivetrain.

It was just a source to confirm that the bolt pattern is the same between the sm trans and the gm t5. So it appears that you could put a non wc t5 behind an ej engine with off the self items assuming the input shaft is the right length and there is a good clutch option etc.

Yes GM T5. Not Ford T5, which is of course different from Ford 4-speed.

GM used the same bolt pattern for everything up to the 6-speeds.

edit - The 4th-gen Camaros used Ford 5-speeds with longer input shafts, so those are useless. This means you need to find a pre-93 Camaro unit.

I am glad your project is coming along but I want to ask how to get it touch with this guy.

I am interested in the 4g63 bell housings for a up coming project does he have a web site with the products on it or just give him a call?
I would be interested in a 4g63/ford T5 one!!!!

Here's his web page.

www.billsautofab.com

And here's his number

419-474-9300

You can call or email, he's good about getting back either way.

I'll vouch and say his work is beautiful, mine went together as if it was a factory piece. And you really can't beat his prices for what you are getting. He always says why make something so expensive no one will buy it.

Also mine is a little farther then coming along.

It's a runner and a driver now. grinning smiley

OK, I will ask the others here...
He has a few choices
1: R-154 TOYOTA SUPRA TURBO TRANS
2:T56 six speed Tremac short input
3:any w55 through 59 Toyota

What’s the best rally trans behind a 4g63T?

don't forget the t5/tko option. i'm not sure if he has that on his web site yet, but last i talked to him he was making them.

also he has them for the older 4g63s or the newer evo 4g63s. basically the difference is where the slave is, away from the exhaust.

Just great. Now I'm going to be rethinking my 2013 engine plan all over again.
