Thanks John, I must've missed that since I posted from my phone from work. Got it all squared away!

I'm getting some good ideas from this thread, I really like the reinforcing bar on the pinch weld!

Got the car back to the shop from Dave's. Amazing work thumbs up smiley

Got right to it and had a couple friends come over and help with stripping the shell and prepping it for paint.

I remember those Gene, but can't for the life of me remember the name! You crashed them into stuff and all the panels popped off..

What are you guys doing for a dash bar? Not sure if they're required, just something that looked different from my Evo cage.

They aren't.
My guess would be stock dash bar with how far forward the half laterals are.
Nice cage, as always from Dave Clark. At least I assume that's which Dave you picked it up from.

Yes it was me. I realize that I am not a real engineer and I put way too many tubes in there that don't make the car any stronger and will just slow it down. winking smiley I'm probably not the world's greatest genius cage builder and won't get on the morning talk shows but I think it might survive a tumble down the side of a mountain.

As for the dash bar, I just incorporate the stock dash bar. That way you can still have full function of the stock dash and climate control system without having hack a bunch of shit up.

Dave is a foolish cage builder...too much material and effort, all welded in the car. Much easier to build a squarish structure and zip tie body panels and call it a race car.

Masterful work Mr.Clark, I love seeing your stuff at tech...it makes my day easy.

And...if I was going sub-orbital in a car off the top-o-the world(which I'm not) I'd much rather have a Dave or Derick cage than an ingineered special...

Doivi,

thats some beautiful work there.

Please enlighten us who are not worthy:

with the stitch welding, even after stripping and dental picking, I've had lots of problems with paint and seam sealer making for sooper ugly welds, you seem to have it worked out, whats the secret?

Liquid Nitrogen, anything else is flat silly.
Clean, faster, safer.
Time is money. And its proven best solution.

I agree that LN is pretty cool and works great on cars with rubberized undercoating, but I don't think it'd do anything for the underbody on the Evos. Mine just looked like someone had sprayed it with heavy oily goop.
