John another cheap way to make the house really cool. Setup is key, about 25 min a door if you do em all at once. Cost about 2.00$ each. Or hire the neighbor kid to sand the paint off. But beats the shitty look of an old door painted 100 different coats.

Hank at IROZ has already fitted the 07K to the 01E trans with a bell housing adapter, mounts, and the works. Saves probably 75lbs off the Iron 5-cyl 20V and a way better design. Also shorter overall length frees up enough room for a full radiator in FRONT where it belongs even in a small chassis Audi ____________________________________________________________- One. Hej AJ, had a nice chat wif Vittorio and I said before we can explore sensible options we need to have some basic info, so I said I‘d ax youse.
First: For his thing ANN do you know the rod c-c? Do you happen to know the block deck height? Do you know if the pistons are DEAD FLUSH with deck at TDC? we're talking fractions of mm here ZERO or what? Do you know compressed gasket thickness? Gasket bore dia? Combustion chamber volume? You must those things right off the tip of your head, so share the info doooood. John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Hey John, it's same as 4-cylinder. 220mm deck height 144mm rods... MAYBE 48mm journal like the fours, maybe 46mm like the older fives, kinda hazy there...

For whatever it is worth, the 5-cyl 20v motors are identical to the VW 16v motors in terms of internals and combustion chamber designs, etc

The only 20Vs I have access to are about three hours away.
For the 10V stuff Audi was apparently all over the board. My old 2.1 block had the pistons way down in the bores like they had heard about squish and decided they wanted nothing to do with it. My current 2.2 has the pistons slightly proud of deck, as I discovered when I was scraping the deck surface... but it's the "high compression" engine, whopping 8.5:1... If you're having new pistons made, why copy what Audi did for whatever weird Audi reason? Pete Remner Cleveland, Ohio 1984 RX-7 (rallycross thing) 1978 Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver. |

That decision hasn't been made. What we want to do is some side by side comparison deal like three colums Stock vs "specA" vs "spec B" So we need to know where we're starting from.. Everything is always a cost vs benefit ratio so we need to apply costs and what it is to see and think about if this mod say forged zero deck 9.5 comp pistons would be worth the incresed cost vs cast whatever down the bore 0,4 OEM junk... One step closer to wrenching on the rally car again! First car in the shed, for some maintenance. Going to pickup the rally car tomorrow. Also finished the remodel of the upstairs bathroom. (ran the house budget out so no more house work till next month!)
