...national entries...I dont see the advantage...

It's what's called price discrimination or differential pricing, which is a fancy way of saying "selling the same thing for two different prices". It's no different than selling a can of peas (that cost you $0.75) at $1.50 while also having a coupon where the user can also buy it at $1.25. The busy people who can afford $1.50 pay it. The unemployed people who have much more time on their hand cut the coupon and pay less. As the grocer, you were able to sell it to both people at their individual price points.

This is very good for the rally, in essence, it just lets you charge wealthy people more.

Unfortunately, it doesn't help any event that can't take advantage of that kind of pricing methodology, ie, it doesn't help "the sport", because there aren't a multitude of championships that one would pay a premium for. One could argue that in a weird way it hurts the other events, because it is artificially lowering the "expected regional price" below cost.

2 points make a line (but don't extrapolate too far.................)

Ha! Tell that to the people who have been trumpeting the amazing growth of rally while the actuality is that it's been cut in half. sad smiley

One rally is one rally. Two is two. Once we get to about ten, which will be a third to a half of the events in the country, I'd feel that we could talk about trends with some degree of authori.... wait, wrong thread!!

CANADA WILL SAVE RALLY! grinning smiley

Actually Anders, research I've seen showed that the coupon cutter was more likely to buy that can of peas for $1.25 because he/she HAS that coupon whereas the smarter person or busy person will buy that can of peas only if they NEED it. Thus stockpiling more groceries, worrying more about price than quality, and ending up with more junk and processed foods. Well this can of store brand tomato soup is 0.50 cheaper per can than the regular brand. Well this can is $1.50 more but has a famous chef's face and brand so it must be better so I'll have that can of soup instead. Best would be to have spent $5 to make your own version of the same soup using fresh tomatoes and having four-six times the servings. Of course, it is more work and makes you miss the new episode of The Bachelor so I guess that's out the window.

20 miles, Coefficient 0,2.

150 miles Coefficient 1,5.

Now.. if only that Could talke back to the CRS and Nasa scoring sites that ya'll use and give an unofficial list of split times/stage times.

Could even hack something together with google maps to make it look like you were kinda watching the rally.

Yeah, that would be cool!

But would require data coverage and introduce a laundry list of potential bugs and glitchs in areas where data coverage exists but is always spotty.
