Yep, Brooklyn sucks. Any part of Metro NY sucks. Out where I am sucks too.

The one RX is cancelled, but if you read they are planning one on the 24th next month. I probably wont make it unfortuneately due to how hard it is to get days off during the summer at my job.

Edit- my strut tops are cracking too. If you want to do pretty much anything with the car you will be pulling the struts... so replace em.

There was a fellow by the name of George Thompson that used to rally a Volvo 242GT that had a turbo motor in it. He ran the Rally of the Tall Pines a couple of years.

I think he sold the car a few years ago to some one that was on here. I haven't seen is since.

Thats cool, would have been fun to see.

How do you do a cage bit by bit? you doing it yourself i assume?
Its funny, Bushings on my car seem not too bad... The car is surprisingly tight.

cage in order as in who's doing it. where im getting the tubing bent and such. The front is fairly tight but is still a little let just say inaccurate. Does not inspire a great degree of confidence.
I've got to cut out a decent amount of rust as well. I'm not the greatest handyman so finding someone to do it all properly, work at a beer rate and with open schedules takes a little time.

It boggles my mind that anyone would do it for "beer money"

Its a cool thought, though

I'm trying everything I can to get that day off from work.

It ain't looking good. If I can, I'll see you there.

In other news, Had some time with the car yesterday. Changed the Oil and some other tune up stuff. Found both the motor mounts are sheared, and the right side rubber is resting on the oil filter thumbs down

Thank god the mounts are about $12 a piece thumbs up

I was gonna ask Volvo peeps here, if I should keep rubber or look for something less forgiving...

I'd throw the stock ones in for now, Bob, if they are that cheap, and worry about any better ones later. You can always pull them and have them as-almost new rally emergency spares. Good motor mounts are important in rally, for not other reason than if you roll or wreck, they need to stay intact. Most rally fires start in the engine compartment, and many times, old mounts break, and the engine flops around, breaking hoses and such. I used to tie stainless braided cables around the mounts on my old Opels, just in case.

BTW, the work rush is over for now, incase you want to call.

Regards,
Mark B.

Mark, I actually found a set that cost about $20 more shipped for the E30 BMWs. They are poly and have a through bolt, so they ought to last. I will call on monday or tuesday.

Jimmy, I got the saturday night into sunday morning off, So Its looking likely that I will be at that Rallycross. Are you ready for some competition?

It works and the battery should stay in one place.

Yeah, the motor mounts seem to work, but they are pretty stiff. Not a problem for me, But may be for other people.

Now Ive got to go get some form of battery mount.
