Either way, My plan is NY and PA rallies till I have to money and space to park a tow set up. Till then, I guess call me "small time"
in the same vein as mark's comment, small time is better than no time.

Awesome. Feel free to ask any questions on the prep, I am about to start number 2. William at TSS has a few pre cut plate kits for a few things that I have done, like rear beam and arm strengthening kit. JVL has a new square beam kit, and of course the Supra diff bolt in kit.

I run a stock T9 with no issues so far, so don't worry about a T5 yet. Talk to john about brake upgrades, and his suspension is the best deal out there.

I use a Volvo Intercooler, and Volvo radiator. The radiators are available everywhere for $100 new. The IC $22 at the pull a part.

Okay, thanks for the info but I havent gone that far yet. By "in my lap" i meant not 2 states away.

check it out:
http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/2442706827.html

White 5 Speed. Car has been sitting for 8 or 9 years. In need of restoration. Hate to see this go to the scrap yard as this car was a blast to drive. Engine was solid, but could use a rebuild. Will try to clean the car and post pics ASAP. Please reply with an email or call 516-449-0342

I talked to him earlier. When he says sitting, he means outside and not taken care of, never started, etc. I asked about rust, he kind of hemmed and hawed... Im gonna go check it out when I can, but I don't have a positve feeling. Funny thing though, he posted it at 5pm last night. I called him early this morning, he said I was caller #4. Damn people hop on stuff quick.

And as for the small time thing, hell yeah, I'm pretty excited to possibly, one day be up to the point where I could hit one event a year. Gotsta start somewhere.

1990, 5 speed California car. No rust to speak of. He wouldnt take a penny less then 1,400, though I tried.

How'd I do?

Edit- His pictures, not mine. Ill take some better ones If anyone is interested.

That's good for a 90! I like those headlights and the dual rounds so I'd say you did well!

Thanks! I do kinda want the short-rounds, but I dig the TV's too. It may end up on the far end of the list.

I was a little worried I had overpaid. But, so far, rust seems totally absent, so I'm pretty happy with that. Though, its gonna need a clutch in the not-to-distant-future.

Well, it looks like a car....... Don't beat yourself up over the price; it may not be the bargain of the century, but if it is rust free, you are in a good situation. A manual I presume, since it needs a clutch? What symptoms say that it needs clutch? (Which I WOULD absolutely renew with something quality even if it did not have any symptoms of failiure....)

So, what's your first step, besides drooling over the idea of being in a rally? Are you going to do simple upgrades and get out there or ??

Congrats, hope to see you out there on stage soon,
Mark B.

I'd say at the WORST, you got a California car for $400 and paid somebody $1000 to ship it back to you, which is NOT a bad thing! Congrats!

Good job! That one is a peach! The TV screen headlight put out good light. That is going to be a lot of fun.
