Just say eff it to the same make of engine. Put a 240sx front cross member in, which gives you rack and peanut steering, upgradable to 300z brakes that fit under 15s and you can keep it a 4 on 4.5.
Get a 4g63 and mate it to a t5 and boost the shit out of it. It mates up to the 240sx subframe with little work. I have seen 4g swaps into 240sx and it just took a little trimming of the subframe. Trust me, it's racked through my head many of times to build that exact set up. "Rally racing makes a heroin addiction look like a vague craving for something salty" |

Man I wish people would get past that. I asked hurst before I started the Mazdaru because really didn't want to spend all that time if he would say no.
Please view my thread where I asked and he said yes to it. http://rally-america.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2750 That is the simple answer, the more complex answer is I could not acumalate points towards the national awards. Oh well. So that's RA. NRS doesn't have the rule. So that's NASA. I'm sure I couldn't run in CARS, but that's far away. I would have to imagine Idaho wouldn't care either. Gene said I would be fine in the NW rally series. And technically the older Mazda B2600 had a Mitsubishi motor in it so that would be close enough for me. ah very true. i forgot they wont deny you from racing. my biggest though with that is rally car... 3.0? would be nice to make some reasonable power but a 1.8 miata engine isnt always so good at that

How about this. I'm still on this 240sx subframe thing and if I had to do mine over again I would go that route. First it's front sump design so motors like 4gs would fit. Second big brakes, third has simalar set up to the first gen rx7s as far to lower arms and tension rod set up. Which like your old car could do something like a heim joint to add some camber.
And as for a motor, how about a ka24de, did you know the sohc came in a Ford. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_KA_engine "Rally racing makes a heroin addiction look like a vague craving for something salty" |

¿que? (In other words, no Joey, I din't know the KA24E came in a Ford. What Ford, what market...curious since I have worked daily on Fords 4s for 28 years and never noticed a KA24E in any Ford I've seen) Say Joey, do you like gladiator movies? Although I did ask hurst about that one awhile back and he said negative to it because it wasn't a US market car. Although I dont remember that part in the rule book. But still would just come down to not getting national points.
I mean for pitty sakes, with my cluster eff subaturd mazdirt is cool under the Mazda "give me money" program. I really read the rules and also asked. No one at a regional level is going to give a fuck what you shove into what as long as you just make it safe. And if someone does protest just go kick them in the vag and tell them to suck it up, there's no crying rally. "Rally racing makes a heroin addiction look like a vague craving for something salty" |

Well that doesn't really count, does it? I like the KA24DE but I don't see the point of any effort into a KA24E. That DE head has some big valves which are like 36mm x 2 . Lots of potential there when combined with a reasonble compression or a right-sized turbo.. WAIT WHAT??? Most of the reason I still have a 13B in the car is because Mazda pays me money to rallycross, all I have to do is win, which is easy since it just entails not losing. The rest of the reason is because they sound so sweet. Pete Remner Cleveland, Ohio 1984 RX-7 (rallycross thing) 1978 Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver. |

i wasn't saying to use the sohc. just put the dohc in because the blocks are the sameish.
pfft, old cars are where it's at, don't let the man tell you otherwise. rules are meant to pushed, flexed and downright questioned if they don't make much sense. "The engine is unrestricted, but must be derived (at least the engine block) from a product line offered by the manufacturer of the vehicle." if that said domestic market or something of that nature, yeah fine i would call no bueno. But ford sold a Ford Corsair I'm assuming right next to the Capri. so that would be a product line offered by the manufacturer. I'm sure the ford service stations where working on them, i'm sure you could buy parts from the ford counter. well assuming we still jive with that ford/mazda connection. It's really no diff then the dodge/mitsu or toyota/GM collaborations. And i'll gladly admit the most connection i could come up with with my subashit mazturd was i park a subaru next to a mazda once. 1. Mazda production vehicle using stock chassis with modified or stock bodywork 2. Mazda-powered vehicle with tube-frame chassis using approved Mazda "silhouette" bodywork 3. Mazda-powered, purpose-built race vehicles (sports racing car and formula/open wheel cars) using a Mazda production powerplant the way i see it I would fall into #1. they made the effort to put the words mazda-powered in 2 and 3, why not 1. i did ask a couple years back when i first started this venture so maybe they could change their minds now. but talk to the people that give the pay out, ask them to define that first one for you. because the way i read it only talks about the chassis, not what's powering it.
