Came from a 91 Mazda Miata used for lap racing

Is "lap racing" a new kind of lap dancing?

maybe it's a less aggressive form of attacking time?

man it looks like it would be close. worse case, you might need to rework the tubes a little.

i found this pic, i mean really, it's going to be close.

since i recanted the turbo, i need to fit a header. Trying to see if an aftermarket 1.6 header will clear, but in the picture below you can see my motor mount. which is close to the original in location but also comes straight across as opposed to down. probably going to take a 150 dollar gamble and find out.

Any reason you think you need a header? I don't think you're giving up much power (if any) sticking with the factory header.

they are usually easier to find than a good stock cast one. but its looking like the stocker or maybe a 4 to 1 version is the way to go

Wait, is this a 1.6 or a 1.8? I was thinking 1.6, which has a decent tubular header from the factory. If you're talking 1.8, the header might be worthwhile, especially if you don't have the stock manifold on hand.

this is a 1.6, but it didnt come with the stock header and i have had little luck finding one. One popped up on craigslist this week, but of course, i dont have the 100 dollars they want for it.

Yea, i wouldn't pay three digits for one either, especially since they all have some minor cracking that will need to be welded up before rally fun begins. I had a stack of 3 or 4 of them a few years ago when we were building the Frankenmiata, but they may have been melted down in one of our cleanup purges. I'll take a look again next time I'm at the shop and see if we saved any.

Found one:

The flange has been modified so it can be mounted upside-down (here's why: http://tinyurl.com/d8ktd37), but other than that it's stock (still mounts fine right-side up). We built three of these manifolds originally, thinking we'd be cracking them with all our turbocharged power. Turns out 26 endurance races later, we still haven't cracked the first one, so two spares is probably excessive. This one does have a crack where the #1 runner meets teh collector. Common crack. I welded up a similar crack in the manifold we've been using for 26 races.

You can have this one for the cost of shipping. See if you can figure out my e-mail address: My name is Dave and my race team is eyesore racing. The rest should be obvious.

Might take me a week or two to ship it, as I'm heading to Seattle for some family fun time. If you need one faster, or want to search for an uncracked one, try Alex at 2ndchanceroadster.com. Great guy, lots of cheap Miata parts.

Nice 'stash.

Any thoughts about boxing in the radiator, so the air goes through rather than around it?
