Sorry to miss this, man. Turned out the ignition coil transistor wasn't fully plugged-in. I was reaching in to find it and went into "re-check connectors" mode. Pushed on it and *click!* We had spark.

With the stock exhaust back on it, now, it sounds like a stock Nissan Sentra or something. So tame. tongue sticking out smiley

Heres some pics of some work I've done on the car recently:

New hatch latches. $8 from a wrangler. No more wrestling with my stubborn hatch button.

New ventage.

Ventilator from the inside.

Ut oh. Large hole in floor. Had "some" rust issues. I did the other side a few years ago, but this side was worse than I though.

11.5lbs battery. Failing alternators be damned! This thing is wicked.

Some new gauges, moved some switches, removed center consol.

Patch welded in. This is what I did this morning. I'm thinking of welding some more plate on the bottom just to be sure, its 14 gauge. WTF is a gauge anyways?

And a fancy helmet net. Its some cargo net from a minivan at work, but it got painted when we repainted the shop around xmas so I pulled it out of the garbage and put it in the car.

I have a friend bringing me a windshield on monday. And sometime next week we'll probably start sanding for the new paint. Less than a month until Shooting Star! I gotta hurry up. At least the thing runs good.

Today I installed a couple floorpan plugs, tore apart a newly rebuilt alternator to swap housings (my dumb ass rebuilt a non-ps alt, and my car has ps), and took out the leaky radiator.

I'm starting to question the intelligence behind trying to use the random spares I got with the car rather than buying new parts.

Badass mudflaps V2 are done.
The car is now at my friend's house where we're going to paint it.
Lots of prep work to do though. The last guy that painted it didnt put enough hardner in the clearcoat and its all gummy still from 1.5 years ago. The best way to take the clear off is with a paint scraper. Once thats done we get to sand our brains out before we can spray it.
19 days until Shooting Star.

Sanding is overrated.

I stripped the rear quarter on my car before I painted, and just barely sanded and unless you get real close, you can't even tell.

Saturday I got the rear windows, hatch, and doors installed.

It's starting to look like a car again.

This week I'll get the windshield installed, then flaps, door reassembly, navi seat mount, skid plate (have to trim the front panel), bleed the brakes, alignment, and interior bits.

I'm hoping to have it done a week early so I can DD if for a bit and make sure all the kinks are worked out.

Please tell me those aren't your seat mounts, just bolted to the floorpan.

I reinforced them a bunch when I did the floor. But I'm going to cut them out and completely redo them when I get a chance. I agree they're not the best, I just hadnt realized how iffy they were in their previous state. They're better now, but not as good as they could be.

Suggestion: run thick-walled square tubing laterally from the center hump to the outer frame rail. Rest it on the OEM slider mount, and weld it to those and the ends to the hump on the inside and to either the framerail or your cage's sill bar on the outside. Those slider mounts are pretty damn solid. Mount the seat to the square stock.

I can't see what you did to reinforce it underneath of course, but from what I can see in the picture there's no way no how I'd pass that at tech.

A good alternate to square tubing is formed and stamped shelving rails such as "Unistrut"
The formed shape gives strength, the perforations gives lightness and someplace to mount the seats to. run east west from sill or sill bar to the tunnel, and Ford runs a length on the floor from sill to tunnel just behind where your heel hits the floor.

These tubes support crazy amounts fer foot and are excellent and cheap.

We took this:

And with the excellent help from fellow Anarchisto de rallye Graham "Graminal" Cullen from Lyndeborough, NH, we lowered it in this old Xratty I had laying around with a FIA spec cage:

Looks kinda nice sitting in there, can't wait to get it going.....again.

Oh yeah, last week when I started this (or when ever it was) I forgot, I put together this for my friend DJ

This week?
getting 40 upper seats, lower seats, lock rings and 26 extended rear seats andf 26 bells anodized and working on RSX Honda, Audi 90, and ford Focus suspenders, plus milling some rods 2.5mm narrower.

And sending off the ring and pinions to all you guys IF they arrive.

I played with programs to get my dash boost selector switch working. I now have 4 different boost levels, but the data shows no difference between 1 and 2. Tuning software/WG spring for desired operation.
