Thought this could be a fun on going thread where people post up whatever little thing they did on their car.

So to start it off.

Tonight I got the slop out of my seat mount, wire wheeled the drivers floor for paint, took 90% of my old graphics off, took the windsheild out cause its cracked, and then wire wheeled the windsheild channel cause it had some rusties in it.

On the way home from work, the service van took a shit, at 9:00 PM. Limped in to an apartment complex parking lot and fixed the damn positive post of the battery, blew a 40 Amp big ass fuse, fixed it with a bit of wire, banged on the damn starter with thw BFH, cursed a lot and made it start. Next day off I have to fix it for good.

Not quite a rally car but I'm fighting crossfiring problems with the new Accel ignition box I threw in Thursday night. Pissing me off to no end. I'm going to get the beefiest plug wires I can find, switch to non-resistor type plugs, and shield the pickup wires and the primary wires in braided AN hose grounded to the chassis.

Overkill? You betcha. But there's no kill like overkill.

On the plus side, I found out why the engine didn't seem to make much power past 6k. The tach was off. All the time I'd been running it out to 8k, it was really around ten and a quarter. So much for the fancy big-dollar "super accurate" tach.

I was *supposed* to scout the junkyards for fender flares, but the recent rains have made them swamps.

I soaked a couple bolts with PB Blaster to try and get them free so I could yank the balance shafts out of the engine, but got no dice. Decided to yank the oil pan, clean it up and am currently considering using vice grips on the balance shafts themselves to get those bolts loose.

Still need to find my brake line fittings. winking smiley

I also used the trunk of the car as a nice stage where I posed used Eclipse parts for pictures I plan on throwing up on Craigslist/DSMtrader or eBay in the near future to scrounge up some more cashflow to get the pig running.

I cleaned some seams and did som more seam welding on the rear of the car.

Cleaning seams is the glory part of rallying! ;-) That and pulling wire wheel bristles out of various body parts.

Cheers! John

I drove 90 miles down to the woods, cruised a bit thu the old Capitol Forest, scene of many an epic battle when Club rallyists Vern Johnson from Portland in his rwd Corolla, and Grant Whiting in his Colt would beat the entire "Pro" fields, and then stopped in at Jack Broadhead to do a test fit of the Sooper Bitchingâ„¢ JVAB suspension on his Misterbitchy Evo III.
Glad I did, as clearance is TIGHT with just 5/16" or 8mm between tire and spring, and less between bottom of strut and drive axle at full droop.

Those damn Japanese sure don't give much movement stock, like 160mm front and even at barely 185mm its a bit too much.

I started removing the body cladding and interior stuff, found a bit of rust. Cut the rust out. Started planning for brackets and fittment for handbrake. Going to get replacemnet sheet metal today.
