Hey John, can you rebuild bilstein struts? Or should I just send them to Poway?

Sure I can rebuild them, but without a Schraeder valve I can't recharge them, so for front inserts its straight to Bilstein.
Which units you have???

And do you know what you want them to revalve them to???

Vey curious what some of you guys are using....

I don't think I've done anything on my car in about 4 weeks or more. Hope to actually get it to my house from my old one (a whole block and a half) this week. Now that Cog is over and we can stop working every night on Mark's Subaru, I can get moving forward on mine. Of course, I don't have time to eat these days it seems like, so it'll probably be slow moving. But I at least have space and a garage to work in now. And the Tig will be here sometime this week!

I have no fucking clue what I'm using! grinning smiley
All I know is that they're big, beefy and yellow. The springs were supposedly done by guy light, probably 18 years ago when the car was first built. I'm gonna call bilstein for a chat. I dont know what they're valved at currently, they're stamped 300/120 on the shaft I think, but I dont know if thats just the stock valving or what. I was hoping they could tell when they took them apart, and set them back the same. I also hope they can get them done in 3 weeks.

Well tonight I spent all of 10 min taking off the front struts. Then I spent like 2 and a half frustrating hours trying to figure out the best way to get this shitty clear coat off so I can repaint the car. Last time we painted it my friend didnt put enough hardner in the clear coat, so its basically ass. The best way so far that I've found to take it off is with the wire cup wheel on my grinder. But that sucks so much. I think I'll try some aircraft stripper on it tomorrow.

I'll get pics of my struts tomorrow after I take the springs off at work. These things are so fucking old they say "Bilstein, made in WEST germany"

Last night I built some intercooler piping. Will finish it tonight and add BOV flange etc. Will then figure out where and how to mount fuel cell.

17 days to test day...

I haven't bought a new car in two years, so the itch has been welling up for some time...

I may have just bought an A2 Golf. Details pending. Has anyone ever rallied one of these things or would I be forging new ground?

If A2 means the same thing as MkII then one of two things is possible:

1. There is a very large rock under which the Remner clan lives.

2. I need my sarcasm meter detected.

I fucking hate painting cars! I'm gonna buy a gallon of aircraft remover tomorrow, fuck sanding.

heres some pictures of my struts for johnny

300 120 47184
I assume the 300 120 is the vavling

32195
No idea

I know you'd wanna know how big my shaft is! :O
40mm if you cant read the display in my caliper, its needs a new battery.

And so you can see how old these fuggers are.
I measured about 5.5" of travel out of them.

There's probably a big fawkin bump stop inside.
Is ther a 17mm nut on the bottom of the yeller tube?

I'm thinking if'n you spun the nut of and there is a screwdriver slot or a allen hex, you could wind the shaft out and pull the insert out, then you could see what the full travel is and then you could wonder if you could get some Soooper Bitchinâ„¢
Green tubes and be able to go adjustable spring perches like these which NW Fast boy Nat Stow was captured when he saw his for the first time:

So are you sending them just for checking?

What's with everybody deciding to build such obscure orphan cars??
Never even heard of a Faul Vee, what is it and where is it made?
What makes you think it can be any good in the woods???

Can't find any Real Wheel Drive cars, why not a BMW 325iX, proven to be faster than cars costing 10,000 times more in at least 5 or 6 Rally-exes!!!!!
