Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye out for it. :thumbsup

As for painting the car black, Michel, it's already black. Every panel on the car has some kind of defect in it and the clear is peeling off the hood and fading on the roof. I don't mind driving a rough and tumble rally car wannabe, but I'd like her to present a bit of effort to the untrained eye.

Well I started fabbing up a bracket to hold the Howe quickner to the steering column out of some scrap stainless and I found that when boring a hole in stainless you want low pressure and slow cutting to prevent hardeneing .... looks like I'll be replacing a hole saw - Doh

Blah!

Sunday night I got caught up in fixing a sticking lifter in a 96 Beretta GTZ for Vanessa's aunt and uncle, in from SoCal for her college graduation. Left in the middle of that to go pick up my dad at the airport. One mile short of the terminal, I noticed this rapid thumping noise coming from the back of the car. I turned off the radio, asked myself, "Do I have a flat tire?" And then I experienced complete ply separation on the right rear. Sonnuvabitch.

I limped to the terminal, picked up my dad, and found the nearest, well-lit parking lot in which to attempt a tire change. Wouldn't you know it, the handle on my trunk jack is rounded off. So I had to limp the pig home on the last shreds of steel belt. Joy.

Good news, though! Yesterday, while stripping a front clip for Vanessa's Amigo (we're replacing the front panels after an accident), the UPS guy showed up with a box from Road Race. I now have my balance shaft eliminator kit for the Gaylant motor. Should be ready to go very soon, now. Wo0t!

You are bad!
You have capability to anodize and youdon't tell us.
And all you have to do is buy a bit of miserable dye??

Strip that thing and do it again in blue or purple or gold, or red or I'll void the warranty if you keep it black!!
I have a lot of Volvo guys I can call favors on, you wanna walk like I do?

Track test went pretty well... Blowing a caliper seal while braking from 180km/h was intersting, thank christ for dual masters! Car looked like a jacked up multi-coloured piece of crap, but the chassis is stiff as hell, suspenders worked well (car was well ballanced on pavement anyway), and all the drive train ran reliably. So now we start ripping it apart again tonight to do all the rally specific stuff.

My driver for lspr stopped by the shop today with his car, so I took it for a spin and promtly broke it 1/4 mile down the road. grinning smiley He didnt have a stop for the gas pedal, so I pulled the cable out of the linkage on the carbs. Opps. Gonna go help him finish off some other loose ends tonight for the weekend. Tech inspection and practice stage tomorrow!

Who the fuck has time to take photos? (apart from Paddy!)

I think one of my friends took a few, but I haven't been sent any yet.

I tried to break the balance shaft nuts loose again last night. No dice. Spent some time harvesting bolts and misc trim pieces from the GS-T instead. Cursed a lot.

Drained and removed stock fule tank. Cut big hole in trunk floor for fuel cell installation. Removed doors for door panel installation. Removed front and rear control arms and made patterns for boxing them in. removed seat sand belts so we wouldn't fuck them up when welding grinding etc.

We blew a coolant hose on the practice stage last night. Nothing a little duct tape and zip ties cant fix. I guess we'll put a new hose on sometime today before parc. Codriving is weird so far...
